CU3 Update – Updated ;-)

Microsoft has fixed in CU3 a problem some customers have encountered with CU2 in Address Book download where some lockup occured. This is resolved in OC 2007 R2 CU3.

Second, Microsoft has just released a brand new capability: the Cumulative Server Update Installer for OCS 2007 R2 is now available on the Microsoft download center. All the information needed to install this package is in the KB 968802-

This is a  single package which can seamlessly install the required patches on all the OCS 2007 R2 server roles. The process for updating R2 had gotten a bit complex (requiring applying the patches in specific order, etc) and this will make it much simpler. Microsoft has bundled the various OCS 2007 R2 server role patches into this single Update Installer.

Note: the server update installer does not install Group Chat patches, Office Communicator 2007 R2.

Also the server update installer does not install the Database upgrade OCS2009-DBUpgrade.msi (in particular the one from QFE2/CU2, which is required for Cumulative Updates from CU2 and up).

Here are the instructions on how to install the Server patches (as also explained in the KB).
